03:42 pm - Holy Holy Moly Moly!!!! Yes friends, it's time for the big announcement. Tracy is pregnant--I'm going to be somebodies' dad!!!!
Why, you ask, is it "somebodies'" and not "somebody's"?
Because there's two of the little suckers!!!!
Holy CRAP!!!!!
Babies are due in March--which puts us at 12 weeks and just starting trimester two.
We're still a few weeks away from being able to learn their sexes.
Sonogram images from just a few hours ago are below the cut. The images are marked A or B, depending on which baby it is. Last photo shows both.
( sonograms below! )

02:47 pm - I can haz wedding? Went down to the wedding of mediaboy and adventure_girl in Newport, Oregon last weekend. What a wonderful spot for a wedding, and amazing sunshiney weather too (a rare occurrence on the Oregon coast, even in the summer). All the photos are here, but some highlights are below:

06:45 am - Whiny Salapants and Izzard At the encouragement of some friends T and I went to see Eddie Izzard last night. Now I can't say I was really familiar with him until a few weeks ago when they brought up the idea of going and brought Dress to Kill over to watch. I found it mildly amusing, but it was late and I actually fell asleep in the middle. But I figured, hey, why not give it a shot anyway. Now I will admit that this was my first live comedy show like this one, and I've never been a really big fan of the stand-up genre. I mean, I watch snippets of comedians on comedy central and only rarely do I find anyone remotely funny. It always makes me feel weird because I'm sitting there thinking that this is totally unfunny or stupid, but everyone in the audience is laughing their asses off. I wonder what they are seeing that I am not, and I had come to the conclusion that maybe its part of that shared experience thing. If you're in an environment where everyone around you is laughing at the silly person, then you'll be more inclined to laugh too. Maybe that's true for most people.
But it wasn't for me. Eddie droned on for two hours last night and everyone in the gigantic sold out theater was keeled over busting a gut, and I was just like, what am I missing here? I mean sure in two hours he had a few lines that were amusing, and one or two that made me actually laugh out loud (if you go, the Bjorn Borg joke was the one) but seriously, an unfunny 15-minute segue about giraffes?
Now I'll admit that conditions were poor for laughing. I was extremely tired (I think I dozed for a couple of minutes while everyone was in uproarious laughter around me), the theater was extremely hot, and I'm way too tall for the seats so I was extremely cramped. But still, that shouldn't have been a problem if the guy had really been funny. Except the thing was that I was the only one there who didn't think he was funny. Which makes me feel like a grump. Or old. Or something. I don't know, but going to a comedy show was supposed to make me laugh, and instead it made me grumpy. I don't think I'll be going again.

04:15 pm - Obama rally! Woohoo!!!! Just came from the Obama rally at the Portland waterfront. mediaboy tells me that it was the largest Obama rally ever--estimated 60,000 people inside the gates, and another 15,000 outside. The line to get in snaked all around downtown Portland up and back several times, ending up at PSU, quite a ways away from the waterfront. Luckily, my friend PK got on line at 10:30am (it was already about 10 blocks long) and she let me scoot up to where she was. Lucky I did or I'd have never made it in. This early arrival allowed us to be really close to the stage--about 200 feet is my guess. Also, the Decemberists played for free for an hour. Awesome. Unfortunately, I had only my camera phone, so the photos suck, but they are better than nothing.
Me and PK:

Fuzzy Obama:

Also, obviously not taken by me (we are about a centimeter above Obama's head, just down from the shadow on the tree). See us?

Maybe more photos to come if any of the others I took are any better.

11:56 am - Weird This should be of particular interest to any wes 99ers who read this.
I just learned today that fellow Wesleyan classmate Kate Whitman (daughter of Christie Todd Whitman, former governor of NJ and former head of the EPA) is running as a Republican for Congress in NJ-07 (at the ripe old age of 30), a seat being relinquished by the current retiring Republican Congressman. According to what I've read, she is facing stiff competition in the Republican primary. I also learned that she is now married and has twin boys--which given what I remember of her from college is a shocker in and of itself.
I suppose on the one hand I shouldn't be surprised, given her family ties, but I have to admit to being taken a bit aback when I saw this. Not only in that she has decided to do this at such a young age, but because of what I remember her reputation to be around school. I mean, first there was the infamous littering episode, but then there was the fact that she lived in DKE. Seriously. DKE.
Anyhoo - Check out her website.

02:51 pm - Gas Gas prices have been skyrocketing all over, I know, but I think we've had more of an increase than most.
On February 15, the day we left for Mexico, gas at the ARCO in Linnton, OR was sitting pretty at $2.87/gallon, a bit below the national average. Today, 3 and a half weeks later, gas at the ARCO in Linnton is sitting at $3.35/gallon.
That's a 48 cent increase in 27 days! That's just amazing to me.

10:17 am - Weekend Highlights:
- Spending quality time with Tracy. - Watching The Wire series finale. So good. - Spotting my first bald Eagle from the house (I'm told they're always around, but this is the first time I've noticed one). - Sitting out on the porch reading the paper for the first time this spring (it was dry and sunny and 60 degrees!)
Lowlights:
- Tracy bought Diet Chocolate Cherry Dr. Pepper. Now I like innovate sodas, but YUCK. Even sadder? Tracy liked it and bought more. - Watching The Wire series finale. So sad. No more Wire.

11:17 pm - Our friend To my friends, Alpha Delt, Wesleyan, and otherwise:
Some of you may have heard already, but for those of you who have not, our friend Jordan Greenberg '99 passed away this week. Details are sketchy, but what I do know is that he was found last night in his apartment by his parents, after nobody had heard from him for a couple of days. There is not currently any information on cause of death, and whatever it is, it doesn't really matter.
I will always remember Jordan as a loyal friend, who would do anything for his Alpha Delt brothers and sisters, and anyone else for that matter. He's the only person I know who has even been nonplussed when I showed up unannounced with a posse at his apartment at 3am (and he was one of the few I actually felt comfortable doing that to). I will particularly miss his easy-going presence at the house and our always friendly interactions.
I have not heard any information about funeral arrangements, but as soon as I do I will post something here.
